Today we’re getting our third snowstorm of the week. This one is the “first major snow event of the season,” as the TV Weathermen put it. Last Sunday we got about an inch and a half. Wednesday we got about 3.5 inches. Today, about 3 inches have dumped so far. They’re forcasting 6 to 9 inches.
We’re gonna head over to Jessie’s parents house for a day of sledding and playing Nintendo. For now, here’s a picture of our bird feeder.

This is too cool! I just found a page on PA’s site with 12 interactive webcams placed all around the state. One of them is located on top of the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland. You can zoom in on the kids going in and out of Hillman Library on Bigelow Boulevard. Makes me feel kinda naughty…
The Chainsaw cake that Jess made is famous now!
Stihl, USA have put the picture of it in their testimonials.
The company I work for, Cepstral, LLC, makes synthetic voices, also known as text-to-speech. This is a technology that allows you to convert any text you want into audible speech. Matt, the maintainer of Cepstral’s web site, has created a means for Cepstral’s partners to embed our online demo into their web sites, allowing them to customize its look to match their site. I have added that demo to this site. It’s to the right of the page, below the “links” section.
Go ahead and give it a try! You can have it synthesize any text you want. There are 18 different voices to choose from, including eight US English, two British, two German, two Canadian French, two America’s Spanish, and two “character” voices. You can adjust the rate and pitch, and you can add special effects. When you click “Speak it!,” a wave file will be sent back to your PC to be played in your media player.
My dad took this picture today of a fun little condition on the Ohio River about 15 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Some barges broke away from Neville Island today, and one of them, full or coal, crashed into the damn near Crescent, PA.
Here are pictures of two cakes that Jess made and decorated recently…

Wow’s Birthday Cake

No Special Occasion
When we were at Jessie’s Gram’s house on Christmas we were shown a photobook containing about 50 pictures from our wedding that were taken mostly by Jessie’s cousin Gina Cyprych. I borrowed and scanned them. This set contains the only known pictures of the parade and the clown giving a balloon to Jess.

Here are the black and white pictures.
Here are the color pictures
We started putting our our bird feeder a few weeks ago. After a couple of days, we noticed that the feeder, while at least half-full when the sun went down and the birds went to roost, would be completely empty in the morning. We tried to imagine what could be eating it. Squirrels, we thought, might be getting to it first thing in the morning. But it would take a lot of squirrels working at a fevered pitch to empty a half-gallon or more of bird seed by 7:00 AM. So we thought it might be raccoons, but they would surely cause the feeder to fall under their weight, as it was hanging by some nylon rope tied to a thin peice of wire. Then it hit us – deer.
Since the expiration date on this carton of eggs doesn’t even exist, does that mean that these eggs never expire? Can we sell them on eBay for $28,000 or so, claiming them to be some sort of miracle?
