Jewelry Box

February 26, 2005

Cindy just sent me a picture of the Jewelry Box her dad made for her.

I suppose at some time I’ll update the furniture site so that adding new pictures is easier to do and doesn’t require any web programming. That’s a chore I’m not really looking forward to, though. It means I’ll have to create a photo database and rewrite the gallery to dynamically draw the pages. Sure, it would be cool if it worked that way, but I’m lazy.

Why We Can’t Leave Our Bird Feeder Out At Night

February 26, 2005

So we got up this morning and went for a walk around the neighborhood. The whole way, it seemed, we were following a set of deer prints. “Why would the deer wander around the neighborhood like this,” we wondered aloud.

Under A Blood-Red Moon

February 25, 2005

Coming back from our most enjoyable walk, thanks to the Gentle Leader, we were treated to a view of a huge, red, full moon.

Ninety-One

February 24, 2005

We weighed Simon last night. He’s up to 91 pounds! To put that in perspective, Gesse, my dad’s all-muscle German Shorthaird Pointer weighs about 50 pounds. Well-fed Saber weighs about 70.

When the Duder stands up on his hind legs, he can put his front paws on my shoulders and look me in the face. I’m 6′ 2″.

Now you can see why the tugging was a problem!

Gentle Leader, You Are My Angel.

February 22, 2005

This product was handed to us directly from the Gods, themselves. It is a Gentle Leader.

We feel we’ve trained Simon quite well. He was housebroken within two weeks of getting him. Well, at least he understood to go outside. Accidents happen with puppies. We taught him to sit, lay down, and all that bollocks a long time ago. He fetches, retrieves, and gives like a champ. For the most part, he’s a very good dog for being 9 months old. However, there was one glaring, obvious hole in his otherwise quite acceptable behaviour – tugging.

A Party For The Dogs

February 13, 2005

Yesterday (Saturday the Twelfth of February) was Saber’s 6th birthday. We threw a little party for him. He got some chewies, an oinky-pig, a raccoon, a blinky light for his collar for walking at night, and some other fun toys & treats.

As per usual, we’ve got a boatload of pictures from this joyous event.

February 13, 2005

I’ve gone through pictures that we’ve taken of Simon during the six and a half months that we’ve had him and assembed a nice collection of the silliest ones. Here they are, for your viewing pleasure.

More Brew

February 12, 2005

For Christmas, Jess gave me an ingredients kit to make some Raspberry Red Ale. Today I finally got to brew it. It’s gonna make a great warm-weather thirst quencher!

Here are some pictures.

We’re Not Dead

February 1, 2005

I know, I haven’t posted anything on here in a while. I guess that’s because not much worth posting has happened for the past week and a half or so. Let’s see, what can I say… Um… We had burritos for dinner last night. Tonight Jess is making spinache calzones with spicy marinara dipping sauce. See – that’s why I don’t post unless I have pictures or something. If I did, it would be really boring.

This past Saturday my dad and I went to the new RC Raceway in Bridgevill, PA. We had a great time. Seeing those little buggers zoom all over the track ignited a flame in both of us that hasn’t burned in nearly 10 years since we got out of RC racing. I can see us getting back into it sometime in the future. Perhaps not to the utterly-dedicated level that we used to be, but as a fun hobby that we can diddle around with in the wintertime.

Here is a picture of us sitting there watching the races.
