The Wall

March 6, 2005

You’ve probably heard me talk about the wall that Jessie’s family put up last summer. Jess and I helped on weekends; Her parents and sister worked ’round the calendar for about 8 weeks.

Each of these blocks is solid concrete, weighing about 1400 lbs. The skidsteer was a necessary investment for this project.

Here are the pictures.

Why Does It Say Paper Jam When There Is No Paper Jam?

A colleague of mine pointed me in the direction of this gem. It’s a video of the Superfriends acting out scenes from Office Space.

There are others, too.

Another Example of Situational Awareness

March 2, 2005

So there I was sitting at a red light about 4 or 5 blocks from work. The light turned green. I didn’t go. Nor did the oncoming traffic. After about 20 seconds, the woman in the car behind me layed on the horn. I politely pointed her in the direction of the oncoming ambulance with it’s lights flashing and it’s siren blaring.

I’m not sure what road she was watching, as the thing was plain as day against the all-gray Pittsburgh backdrop, and could be seen coming for a half-mile or so. I fail to understand how people can always be so preoccupied with themselves that they can’t even pay attention to their immediate environment.
