You’ve gotta be $4!77!n’ me!

November 29, 2005

All I can say is… things that I probably shouldn’t print on here. Imagine Clark Griswald’s rant towards the end of Christmas Vacation after he gets his bonus, and you’ll have a good idea of what I’m thinking.

That’s right – that’s water coming in to the basement. It’s not much, but it’s infinitely more than none. Just yesterday I posted that picture of the drain pipes still carrying water away from the house, and sang high prase about what a wonderful job it has been doing. Did I jinx it? You tell me.

Odds & Ends

November 28, 2005

Today is the last day of my little 5-day break from work. (Read: the work I get paid to do, not the work I pay to do. I like to think of it as “We work all week so we can afford to work all weekend.”) It was an enjoyable and productive few days. We had a nice Thanksgiving on Thursday. Friday we slowly cleaned up the house after Thursday night, then went to Jessie’s parents for dinner and spent the night. Saturday I started on the attic insulation.

Thanksgiving 2005 Wrap-Up

November 25, 2005

Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. This year’s was different in that it seemed more like late January outside rather than late November. The day started off warm, in the mid-30′s with most of the previous night’s 3+ inches of snow having melted by noon. Then came the cold. By 3:30 the temperature had dropped to 18° When we woke up this morning, it was 11. Regardless, we all had a great time. Here are a bunch of pictures that we took. We drank about seven or eight bottles of wine, so the pics may not be of this highest photographic quality!

Happy Thanksgiving 2005!

November 24, 2005

Jess, Simon, and I want to wish you all a very happy Turkey Day!

We got up at 6:00 to dunk our bird into the bucket ‘o brine. Mr. Turkey comes out of the brine at 12:30 and heads staight into the oven after getting a coat of canola oil. We’re looking forward to having Jessie’s out-of-town relatives and from-around-town relatives packing our house today. I’ll put up some pics tomorrow.

The Guitar

November 17, 2005

Many of you know that Jess and I made a guitar. Unbelievably, it’s been over three years since we finished it. I have pulled together the pictures we took while making it for display on this site.

Temptation!

November 7, 2005

First, here’s the Dog-Cam (tm, Dukes of Hazzard) view of the refilling of the dog food bin. Last of the old food dumped onto bin lid, new food poured into the bin, old food poured back in on top of the new food… and all he can do is watch. Well, he was rewarded with some deeeeelicious dog food for being good.

Then, here’s what it’s like to want and know that you’re not gonna get any Super Nachos!

An Update

November 7, 2005

I’m just jotting down a quick update of when we’ve been doing. No pictures or anything, just text in this one, sorry.

For the most part, for the past month or so we’ve just been busy working on the house. Over the weekend, Jess finished up with the stain and polyurethane on our windows. They’re all done now except for the kitchen windows – they are stained but need the clear coat. All the windows need casing, too. Casing: While in Clarion a month ago for Autum Leaf Festival, we picked up 1800 linear feet or so of baseboards, window casing, and base shoe cove molding. Most of it is still sitting, unfinished, in the basement. Some has been finished and installed in the bathroom. The bathroom: It’s mostly done being remodeled. The tile floor is in, the tile shower is in, the shower faucet is in, the new towel racks are in, the new toilet is in, the walls are painted, Jess bought material to make a new shower curtain, and the new sink is in… was in.

On Blogging…

November 1, 2005

The comic in this Forbes Magazine article about Penny Arcade pretty much sums up why the Cyprych.com weblog is not a “blog” in the sucky sense of the word:

I like that this site is used for keeping our friends and family up to date with pictures & recounts, and isn’t used as a toilet into which I dump my daily musings and opinions without flushing for all to see. With that, I’m done dumping my daily musings and opinions. But I still ain’t gonna flush…
