Darren McGavin, well-known for his role as “The Old Man” in the sentimental favorite A Christmas Story, has died at age 83.
Do the math and you’ll find that he was every bit of 57 years old when they filmed A Christmas Story in 1980. He played the part of a weathered, depression-era man with young kids like nobody’s business. Rest In Peace, Old Man. You may now collect your major award.

It’s been about a year since I last brewed some beer. Today, I broke out of that funk and brewed the Honey Nut Brown Ale from the ingredients kit that Santa brought me. In four weeks, there’ll be plenty of good Anglo-style beer for everyone.
I know I’ve posted pictures of brewing before, and not much has changed, but I took some pictures of today’s batch, too.

The massive snow storm that pounded the East Coast earlier this week more-or-less missed us. We got about two or three inches of snow. It sure looked nice, though.
