Quick Update

June 25, 2006

We don’t have too much to report this week. Last night, Jess and I went to Pennsylvania Motor Speedway with my dad & Kathleen to watch the races and the very special two-car demolition derby. It was a good time.

The grass seed I planted alongside the driveway is coming in nicely. Below are pictures from the day I planted it and from yesterday.

Emily’s First Fish

June 19, 2006

Our beautiful neice, Emily, caught her first fish yesterday on Father’s Day. She also caught her second, third, and fourth fish. Some of them were bigger than her! I’ll let Robert tell the story below, but here’s a nice picture of the three of them smiling for the camera:

Read on for Robert’s account…

More Rose Pictures

June 18, 2006

The “purple” roses in the garden began to bloom this week. They’re actually more fuscia than as advertized, but they still look nice. They are called “Purple Passion,” but they aren’t quite purple.

The white roses are “Fragrant Wave“. Since last posting pictures of them, they have developed clusters of flowers:

Belgium Block Border

June 13, 2006

I have recently come into a truckload of Belgium Block. 79 blocks, to be exact. I used about 50 of them to create a border around one of the flower beds. See for yourself:

Special thanks to Jessie’s dad for bringing the blocks back from his mom’s place, and to Jessie’s uncle, Jimmy, for giving the blocks to her dad. This past weekend I also prepared the edges of the driveway for grass. They remained all torn-up from the Pit of Dispair job.

More pictures can be found here.

When the Roses Bloom Again

June 9, 2006

The roses Jess planted a month ago are starting to bloom. The first blossom was awake to greet us this morning. There are many, many more buds ready to blossom in the coming days.
