King of the Couch
Simon is Sofa King cute!

A few weeks back, we noticed that the deskjet printer wasn’t coming on when Jess spooled the grocery list to print. It couln’t be turned on manually, either. So I looked behind my computer desk to see if it had become unplugged or if the surge protector was turned off. Well, what I found was that the surge protector had gone up in a puff of smoke. I’m not sure exactly when it happened, but it seems that something exploded inside, because it had rattley parts inside and smoke had escaped from anywhere it could.

For my birthday, Jess gave us a new Fire Bowl. It’s just what it sounds like it would be – a big bowl that you burn fires in. Now we can have campfires at home! Yay!
We had our first fire last night after work. It was more relaxing than I can describe. And when it was done, the whole area smelled like camping. Eventually the fire bowl will be built into our patio. We’re gonna put down a patio made from pavers sometime soon, and it’s gonna be designed around the fire bowl to make for some great times to come…

Tonight we went out to get a new coffee grinder (ours broke) and while we were out, we swung by Michael’s to get some stuff to decorate the new bathroom wall fixtures that I finished installing this morning before work. The plans came from the June/July 2005 issue of Wood Magazine. We bought the materials for the cabinets four weekends ago. I built them three weekends ago. Finished them two weekends ago. And installed them last week. But, of course, since it was me building them afterall, I did break the first mirror I put in. So I had to cut another one. But, in the end, we’re really pleased with how these came out.
