More details in tomorrow’s edition. I will write more about the truck this weekend when I have a chance to take some daylight pictures. I haven’t even given it a good looking-over yet because it’s dark when we get home from work.
Over the past 24 hours this site has begun to receive and influx of comment spam. Comment spam is just like the spam you receive in your email inbox, only instead of it being an email, it’s in the form of comments left under posts on this site. Typically these comments have a bunch of jibberish text and a link to a porn site. I’ve never had a problem with comment spam before. A while back – maybe 18 months or so – I received about three or four bogus comments. Since then, nothing. I’m not sure why now, after being online for two and a half years, the site is receiving comment spam.
I have deleted all of these garbage comments from the site, but that’s not enough. I have decided to turn on a setting that requires comments to be approved before they appear on the site. What this means is if you leave a comment under any post, it won’t appear immediately. Instead, it will go into a sort-of purgatory state where I have to approve it before it appears on the site. The system is set up to send me a message when a new comment is added, so if you leave a valid comment, I’ll probably approve it right away.
I’m sorry I’ve had to add this annoying feature, but I feel it’s the best way to keep the site from becoming overrun with porn links.
