Bike & Trees
This weekend we finally had some of that weather we knew this planet was capable of. It was warm and sunny both days and those of us with cabin fever made what we could of it. On Saturday Jess and I went bike shopping. She was due for a new mountain bike as hers was an old entry-level bike that was far too small for her height. We went to the Ambridge Bike Shop and worked with the great guys there to fit her to a perfect bike for her size and the style of riding we do. Here is a picture of her new 2007 Jamis Dakota Comp:

After we got home from bike shopping and had lunch, we decided to christen the bike with a short ride in the woods at Bavington. Bavington offers some of the best mountain biking in Pittsburgh – a city with lots to offer to mountain bikers. It felt great to be out in the woods. It was warm, neither of us wrecked, and we saw a ruffed grouse and heard several others drumming.
On Sunday after grocery shopping early in the morning, we headed down to Jess’s family’s property to steal a maple tree to transplant into our back yard. While there we were offered a beech tree, too. So now we have two trees planted in our back yard. Hopefully they both survive the transplant. They should start growing their leaves this month, so we’ll see soon if it was successful. Here they are:

And finally, here’s a picture of Simon hiding behind the stationary bike. His ball was under the futon:

And here’s a picture that’s been on the camera since last summer. I really like this one:
